Characterization of ADA-GEL-based hydrogels combined with bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs) and biomolecules for 3D printing

Alginate based hydrogels are commonly used biopolymers, which can simulate the structure of the extracelluar matrix (ECM). However, the high molecular weight of alginate results in a relatively low degradation rate. To overcome this limitation, the oxidized form alginate dialdehyde (ADA) was chosen for this project [1]. Bioactive glass has been widely studied for tissue engineering, especially in bone regeneration. With incorporation of bioactive glass nanoparticles (MBGNs), hydroxyapatite (HA) can be formed to support further cell attachment and proliferation [2].  Moreover, the use of bioactive molecules, like human platelet lysate (HPL), is a valuable approach for tissue engineering and regeneration [3]. The aim of this Master thesis is to create and to characterize novel alginate-based bioinks by incorporating biomolecules and bioactive glass particles for medical applications in the field of tissue engineering.
