Reactive Laser Fragmentation and 3D printing of laser-doped Bioglass Nanoparticles

Laser fragmentation in liquids is an established technique to downsize particles to nanometer scales [1]. Using this scalable method, bioactive glass particles can be doped with therapeutic ions in the presence of light-sensitizing ions. Since alginate-based scaffolds are prominently used for their biocompatibility and 3D printing feasibility [2], in this research stay, laser-doped bioactive glass nanoparticles will be incorporated into them and 3D printed. To test the biocompatibility of the printed scaffolds, cultures using MG-63 osteoblast like cells will be performed.
