Fatih Kurtuldu is PhD student in the framework of the EU-funded (H2020) project FunGlass (Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass) based at Alexander Dubcek University of Trencin. He started his training period in September 2019 at the Institute of Biomaterials (FAU), which is an international advanced partner of FunGlass. The research activities of Mr. Kurtuldu are focused on the synthesis of mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles doped with therapeutic ions. Mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles will be synthesized by micro-emulsion assisted sol-gel methods [1]. 3-D printing technology will be applied to produce 3-D scaffolds incorporating drug loaded mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles for bone regeneration application.
