An injectable hemostatic and wound healing hydrogel reinforced with antibacterial mesoporous bioactive glass

Supervisor: Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini

Uncontrolled bleeding is a serious challenge that worldwide healthcare systems have encountered [1]. Massive hemorrhage during surgical procedures can be potentially life-threatening and is correlated with increased morbidity, mortality rates as well as intensive care stay. Wound infection is another major concern leading to delayed healing and therefore threatening people’s lives. To tackle these problems, the present project funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation aims to develop an antibacterial mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticle-containing injectable hydrogel to promote hemostasis and wound healing.
