Synthesis and Characterization of porous scaffolds containing different bioactive glasses and calcium phosphates for application in advanced cell therapy.

The tooth and pulp structure loss as result of an infectious process is a great challenge for the restorative dentistry . Tissue engineering is the basis for regenerative cell therapies, which use biomaterials as matrices during this process. Natural polymers such as chitosan, alginate and other can be manufactured as porous scaffolds . In addition, the incorporation of bioactive particles such as different calcium phosphates and bioactive glasses in biopolymeric matrices is proposed to improve the biological responses favoring the regenerative process of damaged bone structures. This research is being carried out in collaboration with the Department of Restorative Dentistry- Dental Materials Division, Piracicaba Dental School, State University of Campinas, Piracicaba, SP, Brazil.
