Fabrication and characterization of electrospun poly (epsilon – caprolactone)-blended scaffolds for soft tissue engineering

Poly(epsilon- caprolactone) (PCL) is a biocompatible, biodegradable polymer commonly used for the fabrication of scaffolds for tissue engineering [1]. In this project, the electrospinning technique is used for the fabrication of fibrous scaffolds, starting from neat PCL and PCL blends with natural polymers (like, chitosan and gelatin), dissolved in benign solvents. Functionalization of the obtained electrospun scaffolds will also be investigated. Morphological, chemical and mechanical characterizations will be performed on the obtained scaffolds.
